This past July we took David and Eva's 1966 Amphicar for a dip in Santa Margarita Lake to see if it was still "sea-worthy". Last we know of the car being in the water was sometime in the late 1960's when the previous owners took it on a few voyages down Alaska's Yukon River.
Their son, Aaron, and his girlfriend, Rachel, were used as the "guinea pigs" for this experiment. Before David and Eva went on their circle around the lake, we had the car tied to the back of a truck with a chain to make sure it did not sink!
Luckily no one was hurt and it only took on a gallon of water for the hour it was in the lake! Thankfully the original bilge pump still worked after so many years!
