We wanted to encourage everyone to support the 2013 Warbirds, Wings & Wheels 5th Annual Show.  This event takes place on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Estrella Warbird Museum in Paso Robles, California.

Art& Wine Tour Success

The Art & Wine tour in Atascadero is an event that happens every couple of months. Local stores participate in this event by having a winery and a featured artist (or multiple featured artists). This last time there were 16 stores including us here at Freedom Street Rods. The night had a slow start but once people started flowing in it never stopped. We had many people who had never been in the shop before which is always a plus. Many women who said their husbands would love this store and they would be sure to bring them in here.

Atascadero’s Centennial is upon us making it a great time for us as a community to reflect on the historical elements that make our area special.  It does seem that our small city currently upholds what our founder, E.G. Lewis once dreamed, “all the advantages of country life with city conveniences”. 

One convenient technology that has been present since the beginning of Atascadero, is the automobile.  The discussion of our Centennial theme of Past, Present, and Future cannot be complete without paying attention to this idea.  Even more, the friendliness that one hundred years past was witnessed in the creation of farming communities in the Central California area, can still to this day be felt within the car communities that help define our area.

California is often present in a discussion revolving around the theme of classic cars.  When I first relocated to California after growing up and living in the Pacific Northwest my entire life, I noticed this.  It was only at this time that I became aware of the world of vintage automobiles.  Being of a stanch pedestrian mindset and not inclined towards science, this interest seemed as foreign to me as another language.

Freedom Street Rods Automotive Swap Meet Free for vendors for all of 2013!

At Freedom Street Rods, we simply cannot stop talking about Swap Meets. We've observed something special. From our first swap meet last August, we have seen our own Monthly Automotive Swap Meet grow with each successive event. After months of hard work. there is nothing more exciting for us to see than our parking lot full of vendors swapping and talking car parts on an early Sunday morning. All morning long, we share in the happiness of hot rodders who are able to sell no-longer needed-parts, and vice versus, hot rodders who find that great deal on a much-needed-part.
