Atascadero’s Centennial is upon us making it a great time for us as a community to reflect on the historical elements that make our area special.  It does seem that our small city currently upholds what our founder, E.G. Lewis once dreamed, “all the advantages of country life with city conveniences”. 

One convenient technology that has been present since the beginning of Atascadero, is the automobile.  The discussion of our Centennial theme of Past, Present, and Future cannot be complete without paying attention to this idea.  Even more, the friendliness that one hundred years past was witnessed in the creation of farming communities in the Central California area, can still to this day be felt within the car communities that help define our area.
